Our Journey

Founded by the visionary Junie Bertille Itoua, JBI African Hair Braiding Salon has evolved from its original incarnation as La Mexicanita Salon and Spa. With roots that stretch from Congo to Cuba and Mexico, Junie's journey shows how different ideas come together in our special way of doing hair braiding.
We offer a wide range of styles including, Ghana Braids, Box Braids, Cornrows, Knotless Braids, Twists and Boho braids. We specialize in bringing your vision to life within a vibrant and welcoming environment.

Hours: Monday to Saturday, from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM. The latest walk-in (without an appointment) starts at 5 pm.

Junie Bertille Itoua

Founder, Manager, and Senior Stylist

A polyglot and licensed hairstylist (Marca College of Hair and Esthetics) with 25+ years of experience. Junie's passion for hair braiding and teaching has made her a respected figure in the community.

Paulette Mbinda

Stylist

Billingual with 6 years of experience, Paulette specializes in a variety of braiding styles and is known for her gentle touch, patience and attention to detail.

Fatou Sidibe

Assistant Stylist

Fatou is bilingual and our patient assistant braider for the last 3 years. She helps by preparing the hair and braiding the ends so your visit is quicker, and you can return to your daily activities faster.
